Paula Adkins Obituary
NILES - Paula Louise (Carpenter) Adkins, 72, of Niles, Michigan, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2025, in Plymouth, Indiana. She was born on May 19, 1952, in Bremen, Indiana, the beloved daughter of Richard and Edythe Louise Carpenter.
In 1967, Paula's family moved from South Bend to Walkerton, Indiana, where she met the love of her life, Eddie Adkins. Their love story spanned over five decades, a testament to enduring devotion and commitment. Together, they built a life filled with love and family, raising four children: John (Jessica) Groves of Brooksville, Florida; Mark Groves of South Bend, Indiana; Jamie Adkins of Mishawaka, Indiana; and Amy (Danny) Sjoerdsma of Granger, Indiana. Her legacy continues through her nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, who were her greatest treasure. She loved watching them flourish and grow through life.
Paula was a beloved sister to Marilou (Tim) Myrick of Euclid, Ohio; Joann Caplinger of Mishawaka, Indiana; Karen Curtis of Mishawaka, Indiana; Cheryl (Jim) Fisher of Edwardsburg, Michigan; and Richard (Julie) Carpenter of Walkerton, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her husband Eddie, who recently passed on Jan. 19, 2025, as well as her parents.
A gifted cook and homemaker, Paula found joy in preparing meals for those she loved. She was known for her incredible culinary skills her zucchini relish, canned peaches, porcupine meatballs, Christmas cookies, and fudge were legendary among family and friends. Her home was always a place of warmth and welcome, where visitors were greeted with fresh coffee and heartfelt conversation. Often remembered sweetly singing in the kitchen while she cooked or baked, Paula created an atmosphere filled with love and comfort. Beyond the kitchen, she had a passion for decorating and crafting. Her creativity shone through in the beautiful handmade decorations she created over the years. As the matriarch of her family and a cherished friend to many, Paula's kindness and generosity left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life for Paula and Eddie will be held on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2025, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Plymouth Conservation Clubhouse, located at 720 Water St., Plymouth, Indiana 46563. Paula's memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. May her legacy of love and warmth continue to bring comfort to all who knew her.
