Ingrid Bielunis Obituary

On June 27, 2025 we lost our Mother, Sister and Grandmother, Ingrid K.H. Bielunis after a long illness. Born in Essen, Germany on December 3, 1939 she was the daughter of the late Hugo and Anni (Siems) Radeker. She was raised on the family farm in Lamstedt, District of Cuxhaven, Germany and was a graduate of Volksschule in Lamstedt. After the conclusion of WW2 She moved to New York City to live with her Aunt, where she worked as a house keeper, learning English from listening to the radio and watching TV. Later she lived in a YWCA and befriended Beverly Bielunis who also was raised on a small farm in Amherst. On one of her visits to Amherst she met her love, Edward Bielunis and they were married in 1963. She worked various jobs as a Book keeper/Secretary and high school cafeteria staff in Amherst, while raising two young boys. Lastly she worked at Omasta Landscaping until her retirement. She loved gardening both vegetables and flowers, reading and traveling around the U.S. with Edward. She spent a lot of time with her grandson Bruce after school. She always endeavored to better herself obtaining her GED and in 1984, she was naturalized as a U.S. citizen. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Edward in 2021. She leaves her Sister Annette Podzun and husband Jurgen of Hamburg Germany, two Sons, David and wife Marcia (Trumble) her children Gaetano and Dominique, Michael and wife Cheryl (Monska) and her grandson, Bruce and partner Lexi Tourigny. Calling hours are July 10th 2025 at the Douglass Funeral Home, 87 N. Pleasant St, Amherst MA from 4-7 p.m. Burial will be private.
