Edward Frankenberger Obituary

Ed passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 22 of respiratory failure. He was surrounded by his four children and wife. He was born November 15, 1934 in Baltimore, MD to Henry and Margaret. Ed was the second of four children survived by his sister Margaret.

He met his wife Ruth while building a Baltimore hospital and while she was in nurses training in 1955. They were married for 67 years.

He graduated from Poly Tech Institute in 1953. He worked for Henry A Knott after graduating. He then went on to work for Blake Construction of Washington, DC for 54 years retiring as Vice President. His many accomplishments included the FBI Building, Walter Reed Hospital, the Holocaust Museum. He traveled with Blake to several states supervising the construction of mostly hospitals. His last venture was the Navel Hospital in San Diego. While living on Coronado Island, he discovered his passion for golf. He played up until his passing.

Ed enjoyed wintering in North Ft. Myers, FL with Ruth for 20 years. They enjoyed traveling and cruising to Alaska and the Mediterranean.

In addition to his wife, he was survived by his four children, William Edward of West VA, Debra Dorough (Tom) Cave Creek, AZ, James Patrick (Diane) Mt. Airy, MD and Lisa Schatz (Jay deceased), Frederick, MD, 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He is also survived by Dave Payne (Kelly) who he worked with for 47 years and who Ed thought of as a third son.

A celebration of life will be held at Resthaven, 9501 Catoctin Mountain Way Frederick, MD on March 27th. Visitation from 11:30-1:30, services at 1:30 and burial will follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church Frederick, MD.

My close cousin Ed, 20 days younger the me. Fond memories growing up together on Grand pop's farm. And then there was the Maryland Air National Guard, 8 years of fun and (Non Combat) wars. You will be missed.

I´m so very sorry for the passing of Mr. Ed Frankenburger. Although I never had the pleasure of personally meeting him, I feel like I knew him through his beautiful and sweet daughter Debra. I am deeply sorry for the loss of Ed. I only know Ed through the love and fond memories shared by Debra and her family.
