My family and I loved John very much. He was a family friend but he was also part of our family. I knew him thru Mount Zion and being a Lay Speaker. He had a beautiful singing voice and he was a genuine man of God. He loved Jesus and I know I will get to see him again

My condolences to Gordon and the family of John . When I moved to Walkersville while in the 4th grade , the Smith boys were some of the first friends that I had . I played on sports teams with Bob and Gordon . I consider the Smith family as one of the finest families that I ever knew . John was a quiet respectful person , and you knew that he would have a successful life . Miss Helen was a wonderful person and Mother , and she always made you feel welcome in her home . Again , sorry for John´s passing . He is at peace now , and is with the Lord and loved ones .

Fond memories of the Smith family of Walkersville. Remembering going to their house after school while my brother Gary was in the Hospital. Later his mother taught Bible School to our children in Mount Pleasant. Remembering Gordon's encounter with a snapping turtle that grabbed his foot. John was a little older but I knew the whole family. Great people.

the Smith family was dearly loved in the Walkersville community. I remember John Henry and Shirley graduating college, I thought John was quite the handsome man. I was more the age of brothers Tom and Bob and enjoyed a friendship with both. The Smith family was greatly admired. My heartfelt condolences. Betty Pue
