Phyllis Peregoy Obituary
April 5, 1942 - July 15, 2024
Phyllis "Sam" Jones Dempsey Peregoy passed away peacefully at her son in law's home in Palm Beach, Fl. July 15, 2024. After a valiant 2 year battle with breast cancer. With Cheryl and Luis by her side.
Phyllis born at home April 5, 1942, at Jone's Store, Spotsylvania, VA to Ritchie M. and Louise E. Jones. After graduating from Spotsylvania High School in 1960 she attended Fredericksburg Business School.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Dempsey, Fredericksburg, Virginia. Son in law, Luis Chaluisan of Palm Beach, , Florida, Step sons, Matt Peregoy of Brick NJ and Steven Peregoy of Stanton, Va. , Sisters Helen Hannah of Coco Beach Fl, Francis Galloway, Louisa VA, Brenda Jeter, Chesterfield,VA and brother Gordon Jones, Coco Beach, Fl. Her two grandchildren Brandon Peregoy and Courtney Peregoy, Elgin, Ok.
She remained close to her both of her previous husbands, Charles K Dempsey, b. April 2,1938 d.May 27,2025 and Nelson G. Peregoy, b. May 31,1942 d.Nov 15, 2024.
Preceded in death by her parents, Richie Marshall Jones and Emma Louise Dickerson, of Spotsylvania, Va, and brother, David Marshal Jones.
Sam was a dynamic and loving person, with many interests. An avid reader and scuba diver. Her favorite place to regenerate was by the sea.
Sam had a passion for people, positive thinking, and Real estate. These qualities and a love for people were an integral part at her very successful career in real estate.
She was a a member of the Million Dollar Sales Club. (When the avg price of homes were 25k) Before opening Heritage Realtors, Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Company in 1977.
As a Broker/Owner of Heritage Realtors, Better Homes and Gardens, in Lawton, Oklahoma. She would also be President of the Board of Realtors, Lawton, Ok and an Instructor for GRI (Graduate, REALTOR Institute).
She was honored to speak before congress. As a powerful and accomplished woman, she owned several businesses and is listed in Who's Who of American Women.
Her legacy and love will be carried forward by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial service will be held July 15, 2025 to be held at 1 p.m. Fellowship Baptist Church, 13737 Post Oak Rd, Spotsylvania Courthouse, VA 22551.
