Carol L. Karlin

Carol Lynn (Denison) Karlin, 75, of Beatrice, died on Wednesday morning, July 2, 2025, at Whisperings Winds in Beatrice. She was born on April 10, 1950, to William and Lola Mae Denison of rural Hooper. Carol was baptized on April 23, 1950, by Pastor Ernest Eckhardt of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Hooper. She attended Immanuel Lutheran Parochial School and was confirmed March 22, 1964, by Pastor Eckhardt. Carol graduated from Hooper High School in 1968. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hooper where she married Thomas Karlin on June 20, 1969. Carol played guitar and sang in the Double L's Country Band and the Shifting Sands Band in Fremont. Later she played in the Crusaders Praise Band at Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Beatrice. Carol played softball in high school earning two All State 2nd base awards. She coached several junior and senior girls' softball teams in Beatrice. She also played in the women's league in Beatrice and was a catcher. Carol collected, saved, traded and sold baseball cards for many years and collected many autographed cards and photographs. Her grandchildren called her Grandma Baseball. Carol enjoyed racoon hunting with her uncle, Lyle Wolf, in the Hooper area. She was passionate about fishing and proudly claimed to have fished 97 times in one year. She caught four Nebraska Master Angler award fish. Carol enjoyed sitting around a campfire laughing and talking. She had been employed at Country Lanes bowling alley and later at Neapco Manufacturing. She started and operated Personal Touch Lawn care for many years in Beatrice. Carol loved to socialize. The fishing garage door was open most afternoons and ready for coffee or refreshments, conversation, and laughter. She was always ready to visit around the kitchen table with her children, grandchildren, friends, and family. Carol moved to Beatrice in 1978 with husband Tom and their children. She was a former member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and for the last 20+ years she was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her husband, Tom of Beatrice; daughter, Julie (Matt) Sleister of Fremont; sons, J.T. (Jill) Karlin and Justin (Erica) Karlin all of Pickrell; nine grandchildren, Matthew Sleister, Riley (Tate) Simpson, Katie Sleister, Sam Sleister, Bryce Karlin, Cole Karlin, Austin Karlin, Jacob Karlin and Ainsley Karlin; three great-grandchildren, Barron Simpson, Lola Mae Simpson and Izzy Simpson; sister, Joyce (Bud) Foust of Hooper; brothers, Bob (Donna) Denison of Fremont and Dan (Terri) Denison of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; mother-in-law, Nelda Hirsh of Oakland; sisters-in-law, Kris Briggs of Denver and Jan (Rick) Zorko of Papillion. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lola Mae (Wolf) Denison; father, William Denison; father-in-law, Elden Karlin; brother-in-law, Bud Foust.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Beatrice with Pastor James Anderson officiating. Inurnment of the cremains will be at the Evergreen Home Cemetery of Beatrice. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 A.M. on Thursday at the church. A memorial has been established to Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Beatrice. Cremation has taken place but a book for signatures will be available on Wednesday from noon until 8:00 P.M. at the Fox Funeral Home. The family will greet relatives and friends on Wednesday from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
