"Chuck" Hadley Obituary

"Chuck" Hadley was born June 22, 1929, and raised in Redfield, Iowa. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Kathy, and four children, Steve, John (Roz), Susan, and Jim (Laura), nine grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.

Chuck participated in many sports and in the summer he participated in semi-pro baseball. After graduating from Iowa State Teachers College in 1951, he married Katherine Klingaman on July 22, 1951. Ten days later, Kathy, who worked in the Federal Induction Center in Iowa, inducted him into the Army. Four months later, she moved to the Washington, D.C. area where Chuck was stationed at Ft. Belvoir going through Basic Training, Leadership School, and Officer Candidate School receiving his commission as an officer. He was retained as an instructor in O.C.S. until deployment to Korea in 1953.

Three weeks after Chuck returned from Korea he started teaching and coaching in Iowa and finished a Master's program at Drake University. In his home town school district he served as Guidance Director. His family moved to Laramie, Wyoming, where Chuck attended the University of Wyoming and obtained his Doctorate.

They moved to Colorado Springs where he was employed by District Eleven for 25 years. For 17 years, he was Director of Pupil Accounting and Testing Services. In the summers in the 60s he taught at the University of Wyoming, U.C.C.S. and Western State. He really enjoyed working with all the staff in District Eleven.

After 41 years Chuck and his family moved to Villa Sierra where they became actively involved in establishing a monthly newsletter and many social activities. The family really enjoyed the Westside. Chuck spent over 40 years serving as Santa Claus for family, neighbors, friends, schools, children centers, and special requests. He was truly devoted to his family and friends.

condolences to Kathy and the Hadley family. Mr. Hadley was my favorite teacher and coach. I enjoyed our many phone calls over 50 year's. Mr. Hadley attending our class reunion was the highlight of the weekend. The class of '59 will miss you.

Dr. Hadley coached and taught at Waukee HS in Iowa before moving to WY to complete his PhD. He had kept in touch with several former students and enjoyed sharing memories of those days in the 50's. Kathy was a graduate of Waukee HS which must have played a part in his coming to our school. I was astonished by his memory of details concern athletic events from that period.
As a coach and teacher, he had a profound influence on many. My condolences to his family.

I was privileged and honored to be a colleague of Chuck's in the 80's and so appreciated his professional and grace filled way of dealing with colleagues and issues. I have the greatest respect for who he was and what he accomplished in his life and send my condolences to his loving family.

Hads, I know where you're at right now. I miss my mom more than I can say. He will come to you in dreams....a few at first, then less. What I remember about your dad is that he, along with your teammates and friends were so impressed with you as an athlete and a friend. I'm sorry man, I really am, even though I know it's inevitable. I recently visited the grave of my grandmother because I was lost (woman problem) and she told me to go make peace with my dad. If you look back man, I wouldn't be surprised if you pretty much always had peace with your dad. So live with that going forward and accept the emptiness that goes with it. Because we shared class of 78, because we hit the same linebackers with the same intended force (because we believed in ourselves and because we wanted to win) you will forever have my love and respect. It's cool to miss yer dad, I desperately miss my mommy.
