Agnes Hassell Obituary

Agnes Hassell died peacefully in her sleep on Friday, July 21, 2006. She was born July 1, 1909 to Jim and Amy Godwin in Butler County, MO. Agnes had been a resident of the White Acres Good Samaritan Village for the past four years and had just celebrated her 97th birthday. Her cooperative, thankful and positive attitude brought joy to all who were around her. After teaching school for 22 years in S.E. Missouri she moved to Guam, M.I. and taught for 13 years before moving to El Paso in 1968 where she continued her teaching career. She also worked for H&R Block, on a part-time basis for thirty years. She was a member of the Westside Church of Christ in El Paso. Agnes' love for travel and adventure took her to six continents during her lifetime. She continued her love of traveling until 1999. Agnes is survived by a son, James A. Cardwell, of El Paso, TX and one daughter, Wanda J. Tydingco of Clovis, NM. Other survivors include five grandchildren (Cindi Cardwell of Scottsdale, AZ, Tina Hatch and Jim Cardwell of El Paso, Troy Tydingco of Sitka, AK and Dan Tydingco of Colorado Springs, CO) and seven great-grandchildren (Nathan, Natalie, Richie, Bethany, Gabriel, Trey and Ashley). Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, July 25, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. at Westside Church of Christ, 100 Crestmont, with Pastor Howard Bryan officiating.
