Al Britton, Jr. Obituary

Al Britton, Jr., AKA Poppy and Al my Pal, age 67, a lifelong resident of Colorado Springs, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 21, 2013, at his residence at Britton Nursery where he was the Owner and President since 1979.

Allen Hayes Britton, Jr., was born on March 29, 1946 in Tiffin, Ohio, to the late Allen and Anita (Horner) Britton. He was a 1964 graduate of Wasson High School, attended Bob Jones University, Luther College, and Luther Seminary. He married Lana Wilson on September 12, 1975, at First Presbyterian Church in Colorado Springs.

Al was a man of faith who was devoted to sharing the Word of God through his life, business, community and relationships. He lived all of his days proclaiming that true Treasures in Heaven are loving God and loving the people around him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lana; his daughters: Kami Haggstrom (husband, Jeremy) of Aurora, Colorado, and Stephanie Thompson (husband, Kirby) of Colorado Springs. He is also survived by his two brothers: Clark Britton (wife, Patti) of Falcon, Colorado and Dale Britton of Colorado Springs.

He is also survived by two amazing grandsons: Benjamin (age 10) and Britton (age 5).

So sorry to hear of his passing--I remember him knitting at Sky Ranch Lutheran Camp and hiking with him, Clark, and Ken Rasmussen to Comanche Lake. He was a great guy.

What a friend to loose. We did not see much of each other, however when we did we always share the love of Christ through our conversations. Remembering the days when Al sold christmas trees on the corner of Woodman and Academy. Always remembering.... John & Peggy Nates

Al is a Son of our Lord and lived that relationship and life. I am Blessed and Encouraged and Strengthened in this life AND in the next through Al my Pal's active life here. How sweet to have shared sometime on this earth with him, and much more in Heaven!! My heart goes out to his family AND is glad for his life you had with him. Love and Blessings, Steve E.

My heart is heavy but my soul is soaring..Al was a wondrous source of calm and understanding during a tumultuous time in my life. He taught me that God is in charge and even though we don't know it...All is just as it is meant to be. I will miss your gifts to this earth, but you have left so much behind we will know your work for all our days. God Bless Us All.
