Al Corbin Obituary

April 13, 1930 - June 28, 2008 Our loving father, grandfather, and friend to all who knew him, has now gone to rest in eternal peace. He touched many lives and will be missed by those who were blessed to have known him. Al was born in Brooklyn, New York on April 13, 1930. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1951 from Long Island University and Master of Arts degree from the University of Colorado in 1987. Al retired from Pikes Peak Mental Health where he was employed as a licensed professional counselor. He also taught psychology at Pikes Peak Community College and was a volunteer for several local agencies including deputy probation officer for the District Court IV, State of Colorado, Penrose Hospital, Pikes Peak Area Council on Aging and Prospect Home Care Hospice in Woodland Park. In addition, he worked for several years for Cedar Springs Psychiatric Hospital and maintained a private practice. His wife Bev Howes-Corbin, her son and daughter-in-law Mark and Linda Howes, and grandson Adam Howes survive him. Al is also survived by his son and daughter-in-law Rob and Emily Corbin of Palm Springs, California, daughter Judy Hampton of Foster City, California, daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Alan Frankfurt of Dallas, Texas, grandchildren Jennifer and Nicholas Hampton, Sara Frankfurt Gail, Stephanie, Jessica, and Asher Frankfurt. A Celebration of Life Service will be at 10:30 am, Saturday, July 5, 2008, St. Michael's Episcopal Church, 7400 Tudor Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to any of the following: Pikes Peak Hospice, 825 E. Pikes Peak Ave. Suite 600 Colorado Springs CO 80903, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital- Tribute Dept., 501 St. Jude's Place Memphis TN 38105, Cedar Springs Hospital, 2135 Southgate Rd. Colorado Springs CO 80906 – "In memory of Al Corbin".

Al was a GREAT man and will be missed by many people young and old! I worked many days with Al on the Child unit @ Cedar Springs and its just not the same with out him.....

Dear Bev,
I can remember the first time I met Al and what a very special man he was. When he spoke of you, he had a special sparkle in his eyes. Al had a terrific spirit of optimism and love for you, family and others.
I am so sorry for your loss, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Dear Beverly, Robbie, Debbie & Judy, family members and beautiful grandchildren...
Words cannot convey the loss that we feel knowing that our dear, long-time friend has moved his physical body from earth to another place of peace, beauty and well-being. We will be contacting each of you individually and want you to know that our hearts are full of love and compassion for you at this time.
So many memories and beautiful thoughts remain. Each of you have contributed so much to the joys of our loving and knowing your family throughout the years. Al was a very special individual who always made a point to say hello or give a hug to all he came into contact with -his smile and his calm demeanor always brightened my days at Cedar Springs and I truely enjoyed working with and talking to him.
