Alan Knight Obituary

Knight
Alan Thomas Knight
September 1, 1953 - February 13, 2018
Alan Thomas Knight was born September 1, 1953 in the now abandoned mining town of Gilman, Colorado. Alan died February 13 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Alan attended school in Carbondale and Paonia, Colorado, graduating from Paonia in 1971. He went on to attend Fort Lewis College in Durango and graduated from Southern Colorado State College in Pueblo with a degree in Mass Communications.
While attending SCSC (now the University of Southern Colorado), Alan met his wife, Rebecca Cruts, and they began more than 40 years of adventures together. Alan and Becky were married in Colorado Springs on August 2, 1975.
After their marriage, they moved to the high country in Leadville, where Alan was employed at the Climax molybdenum mine as a motorman, driving trains hauling ore from underground. While there, Alan earned the nickname The Librarian for the book that he always carried in his lunch pail. This proved to be prophetic! After the mine closed, Alan and Becky returned to Colorado Springs and Alan began work for the El Paso County library district, where he was employed up until the time of his death.
Alan and Becky had many adventures in their time together, travelling the US and the world. Alan had many interests: his prodigious appetite for reading, a love of Colorado history and the many cats that he and Becky raised and fostered over the years.
Alan was preceded in death by his wife, Becky, and is survived by his sister, Pat Hoffman, and two brothers, Greg and Matt Knight, as well as several nieces and nephews. Donations may be made to the Pikes Peak Humane Society.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel. A reception will follow the services at the Olympian Plaza Reception and Event Center, 975 South Union Boulevard.

Im very sorry for your loss. I just learned of his passing yesterday. I only really got to know Alan during our senior year. I remember him as smart and witty. He also was a very good hobbit. Rest In Peace, Alan.
