Although a year has passed, fond memories of my friend Al have not. As long as I live, so will the memory of Al.

So terribly sorry for you loss.
Alan & I were friends in HS. I went with him to his Jr. Prom at Carmel HS. Alan was a kind and talented person. He will be missed by many.

Here it is a year later? I think of Al each time I look at my computer, as I have a small icon of the photo I posted of him a year ago. I nearly joined last Christmas, him having barely survived my second heart attack. Still not quite back to 'normal' but I'm grateful nevertheless for the memories I keep alive of A.R. Wetzel, and all the times we shared.

Al sent me this selfie at my request in May of 2019. I'm very glad to have it.

True friendship is very special and that was my friendship with Al. Our friendship grew to a close knit group of 4 in high school aat Carmel. Al, Jim, Russ and myself. High School was a blast and then Al went on to college at Quincy, I will never forget my visits for a weekend. Al being the outdoorsman, took us on some great Mississippi adventures. One stop was Hannibal Missouri .
I can go on and on about how having Al for a friend was very precious.
Thanks For The Memories Al.

Al was my friend since we were in 3rd grade. We went through grade and high schools together, and remained close friends until he moved away from Lake Zurich. I was honored to be best man at his first (?) wedding. My last contact with him was last year when I was trying to convince him to attend our 50th high school reunion but, sadly, I failed to persuade him. I did, however, reminisce with him about those good old days (which somehow we barely survived). So many memories reaching back over six decades! My heart reaches out to John, Gloria, Karen and Dan, and to Al's children. May my friend Alan rest in peace.

I've planted 20 trees through the Arbor Day Foundation, in honor of the wood sculptor. Those who are fortunate to own one of his works are gifted indeed.
