Buzbee
Albert Joseph "Buzz" Buzbee
February 23, 1922 - April 23, 2018
Albert Joseph "Buzz" Buzbee was born February 23, 1922, in Denver, Colorado, to Roscoe and Gretchen Allen Buzbee. He passed away April 23, 2018. He was preceded in death by his mother, and raised by Max and Bertha Allen Hunter, his aunt and uncle. He was a professional dancer as a child, performing with many big band orchestras, including with Buddy Rodgers at the Trocadero Pavilion in the original Elitch Gardens in Denver. He graduated from Denver North High and enlisted in the Naval Air Force after Pearl Harbor, serving in the Pacific theater attached to the U.S.S. Yorktown. He was awarded the Air Medal and received the Presidential Unit Citation for heroism in action against enemy forces. He returned home after the war to attend college at Colorado State Teachers College, now the University of Northern Colorado, in Greeley. There he met Luanne Margaret Ault who was born in Hammond, Indiana, on July 4, 1924. They married in 1946 and relocated to Colorado Springs in 1948 where he started his teaching career in District 11 as a coach and elementary teacher, retiring after 34 years of service to the district. Luanne preceded him in death by a brief two months after nearly 72 years of marriage. They are survived by their six children: Gaye (Frank) Jacobs, Anne (Paul) Canto, Lynne Mahan (Jim Hodgson), Scott Buzbee, Lori (Greg) Grimes, and Philip (Kathy) Buzbee; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. No service is planned. Private memorial will be held at a later date.

Mr. Buzbee was the best teacher I had in school. He taught 6th grade at Queen Palmer Elementary. His wit, sense of humor and teaching methods were, and are, unequaled. He was quick to recognize the special qualities in each and every one of his students. This was in the mid 1960s that I knew him. I had no idea about his amazing life accomplishments! Now understand, in part, what made him the amazing man that he was. He has remained in my heart and memory all these years, and will remain there always. Thank you Mr. Buzbee, for all the many wonderful memories and life instructions that you gave me.

Hi Daddy, I miss you and Mom so much my heart finds it hard to express in words. I think your calming presence and Mom's way of soothing the ruffled breast in this clan of ours, are the most missed. You two were a constant north star for me even if the sky was clouded over by others, I saw your light. I miss the camping trips Dad and the way you taught me about cars and being not afraid to try. The long talks between us, around the campfire after everyone else went to bed were probably why I love to camp so much. thanking you was done while you were here, over and over for all you and Mom and I traveled through. For all you did. for all the parts of me I got from you. For being lucky you didn't stop at 4. I will be forever grateful.

Rest in love Mom and Dad

The Willow Tree Club House, the MG in the driveway. Eating popsicles and riding bikes until dark. I can hear my mom calling me home, from my other home in the neighborhood at the Buzbees. You are in my heart forever.
