I have great memories of mr Derby and his great sarcastic wit. I enjoyed all 3 sciences he taught at Widefield when I attended. He will be missed!

What a fun teacher he was to have. He was a great educator and will be missed!

Mr. Derby was a great influence and mentor for me. I will always remember the lessons he taught me. I celebrate the life he lived and mourn his loss.

Mr. Derby was an awesome teacher who truly cared about his students. He fostered my love of chemistry and was instrumental in me choosing to study chemical engineering at a small college. I will always remember lunch with the Science Club in his classroom.

I still credit my love of Chemistry to Mr. Derby. He was a wonderful teacher and a great mentor. Sending prayers of love and peace to his family!

My children spoke very highly of Mr. Derby. He was a master teacher when it came to chemistry and other subjects. It's a sad month when two of Widefield's best teachers have left this world. Many students were blessed to have learned from his teachings.

Thank you, Mr. Derby for being such a great teacher and a memorable educator through my high school years. I will always remember and appreciate all that you did.

Mr. Derby was one of my all-time favorite teachers and had a lot to do with me going on to a science major (physics) in college and becoming a teacher myself. Thank you, Mr. Derby.

Al was an awesome Grandfather, "Papa" to his two grandaughters, they loved and adored him so much. We miss you so much already. Tea time wasn't the same yeasterday.

Al has left us just after his colleague Ralph Johnson, both of them energetic and committed science guys. Al always wanted to teach his students practical applications of science. He loved kids and spent his years bettering his students and the school districts in which they lived. I will miss and enjoy remembering my good friend Al.
