For Helen and Warner's families,
I lived across the street from Helen and Warner in Colorado Springs from 1977-1980. They were superb neighbors and friends! We had great times together organizing progressive dinners and a June in January party held at Jean and Brownie's home, with the thermostat turned up to 75 degrees! Sam and I flew to Colorado Springs to take Marian Hollister to Lake City to spend almost a week in Helen and Warner's ingenious solar adobe home - we hiked and went to plays and talked for hours. They were the ultimate hosts.
I am thinking of you all and hope your memories of Warner offer you solace. I was privileged to know him. Mimsy Spaulding

The full obituary before editing for space.
Albert Warner Dewey, Jr.
1931-2019
Warner Dewey died May 27th in Lyon, France while traveling to Portugal and Switzerland to visit family. After what he called a perfect day walking along the Rhône River he suffered a cardiac arrest and never regained consciousness.
Born in Gaziantep, Turkey to Colorado missionary doctor parents he returned as a boy to the United States, attended Mt. Hermon School, Yale University, McGill University and University of California San Francisco. Dr. Dewey joined the Navy, working with submarines, early SCUBA and was the medical officer for the Underwater Demolition Teams 11 and 12. He moved to Colorado Springs and practiced urology until 1984. He then became the first urologist in western North Dakota and finished his medical career in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.
Fulfilling a lifelong dream of exploring his artistic side, at retirement Warner moved to Lake City, Colorado into an adobe home and studio he had designed and built. He enjoyed hiking, acting, pottery, jazz and classical music and as President of the Lake City Arts Council he promoted its exploration. He was a board director of the Colorado River Water Conservation District 2002-2013.
We carry love, affection and special memories of Warner. His influence on his family, friends, patients and community is immeasurable. The family thanks everyone for their love and support. He lived a rich life with curiosity, intelligence, humor, compassion, courage and adventure.
He leaves his wife, Helen Dewey, daughters Marleen M. Dewey, Andrea Dewey Gibson, Cathrine Dewey Farrell, Christina L. Dewey, stepdaughter Jennifer Lowe, and was predeceased by stepson John Hendrick. Memorial donations may be made in his name to Lake City Arts, PO Box 876, Lake City, Colorado 81235
