Albert Naylor Obituary

Albert Naylor known to his family and friends as "Spike," passed away on January 16, 2013 in Colorado Springs at the age of 87. After spending his childhood in Clearfield, Utah, Spike enlisted in the United States Navy. Upon his honorable discharge he graduated from California State University at Humboldt and began a long and successful career with the Department of Fish and Game. Upon his retirement he enjoyed traveling and his work with the Red Cross. Spike is survived by his wife, Nancy, daughters, Susan, Carolyn and Candy, his 5 granddaughters, his brother Gail and many nieces and nephews. He will always be remembered for his gracious heart, devotion to and love for family and friends, and his great sense of humor. Following a military burial at Fort Logan in the Spring, Spike's family will be celebrating his life by sharing fond memories and humorous recounts of the Life and Times of Albert Elwood Naylor. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Alzheimer's Association to honor Spike's wife Nancy (alz.org).

Uncle Spike and Aunt Nancy always lived so far from us, but the love and respect was always there. I enjoyed the several visits they would make to MN. He will always be in my heart.

From 2006 to 2009, Spike and Nancy faithfully served the El Paso County Sheriff's Office as volunteers. I will always remember the obvious love they had for one another and the gentle way Spike cared for Nancy. This was especially apparent toward the end of their time with us. They were faithful and dedicated volunteers, loved their community and were always willing to help in any capacity. Both Spike and Nancy will be remembered fondly, always.

Candy and Family, my thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Your dad was as sweet guy. I remember your dad... We used to have slumber parties at your house, and I just remember he had that sense of humor and was always egging us on to play tricks on each other at the slumber party. I know he will be greatly missed. Just know that in spirit he is still with you.

I will always miss Uncle Spike. He was one of the funniest people I have ever known. He really made a difference in this world, volunteering for the Red Cross and local Colorado Springs organizations. He truly "gave back" and was an inspiration. My thoughts and my prayers are with his three daughters and their families

Candy, your Dad was the best Dad that anyone could have asked for. The stories you shared with me about him will always be etched in my memory. May you know that he is now an angel watching over you, your sisters and your Mom.
