Albert Winkelbauer Obituary

Albert John (A.J.) Winkelbauer, 84, died August 31, 2010 peacefully at home in Widefield, CO. He was born in Lynch, NE, December 11, 1925. A.J. was a WWII Veteran as a Medic Tech Sargeant. He came to Manzanola, CO in 1945 and met Betty James, who worked at the drug store. They were married in 1949. They moved to Holcomb, KS, where A.J. worked on the railroad as a train dispatcher. In 1966, A.J. transferred from the Pueblo Army Depot to Colorado Springs and worked for ARADCOM until he retired. They have resided here for 44 years. A.J.'s parents and brother are deceased. Also, son, Mike Winkelbauer. He is survived by wife, Betty Winkelbauer; two sons, Tom (Pasco, WA), Joe (Security, CO); and daughter, Sue Miles (Emmett, ID); 8 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. Memorial Services will be Thursday, September 9 at 11 a.m. at St. Dominic's Catholic Church, 5354 Hwy 85/87, Security, CO 80911. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Dominic's building fund, 331 Main St., Security, CO 80911 or Pikes Peak Hospice Group, 825 E. Pikes Peak Ave., Colorado Springs, CO 80903, for doing such a loving and caring job.
