Alberta Casey Obituary

Alberta Casey (nee Johnson), a resident of Colorado Springs, CO, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at home the morning of May 13, 2014.

Alberta, 83, was predeceased by her husband, Joseph. Together, they shared sixty years of marriage and raised six children.

Aside from her own kids, Alberta enjoyed nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, who will all dearly miss her love and support.

Alberta was born and raised in Duncombe, IA, the youngest of seven children. It was there she met and married Joe. Shortly after starting their family they relocated to Loves Park, IL, raising their children with the focus on the importance of family time. Alberta was the best wife and mom. Alberta and Joe, after raising their family, chose retirement in Colorado Springs, CO.

They were members of St. Mary's Cathedral. When she wasn't working full time at being a mom, she volunteered as a Pink Lady at Saint Anthony's Medical Center in Rockford, IL then at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, CO. Alberta loved to travel and visit her family, located from coast to coast. Often found with a pair of knitting needles in her hands she produced her legendary round dish clothes, afghans and warming caps donated to the NICU unit at Memorial Hospital. Her sense of "Craft" was clearly passed onto all her children.

Her passion for african violets is well known by anyone who ever knew her. Alberta also enjoyed playing table games and cards with the many friends she made while living at LaCresta & ViewPointe.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to your favorite charity in Alberta's name. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, May 27th, 2:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Cathedral, Colorado Springs, CO.
