Alberta Illian Obituary

Alberta Anna (Bopp) Illian, age 94, went home to be with the Lord on October 21, 2012 in Colorado Springs. Her life reflected her love of the Lord, her family, and her church. Alberta was born on August 30, 1918 in Trenton, New Jersey to Anna and Carl Bopp. She married Walter Illian on May 30, 1943 and moved to Colorado Springs where Walter was stationed at Camp Carson. She became active in First Presbyterian Church, volunteering in various capacities. She worked in the kitchen at First Methodist Church and later at Upton Gardens. Alberta was active in organizing Faith Presbyterian Church which met in their home until the Chapel was built. In 1972 she and Walter became charter members of Village Seven Presbyterian Church. Later in life she returned to First Presbyterian Church, becoming active in the caring ministry of the Ambassador Class. While living at Winslow Court Assisted Center she knitted thousands of blankets and hats for the baby center at Memorial Hospital. Alberta was preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by her 3 daughters: Grace Holiday of Bozeman, Montana, Joyce Illian and husband, Ron Miller of Marble, CO and Melody Rodriguez and husband, Juan of Colorado Springs. Mrs. Illian was such a kind and lovely lady. She was very caring and her family is very important to me! Now she is with Walter again. I bet that is a happy thought. My prayers are with you.
