Alberta Sedgley Obituary

Alberta Elizabeth Sedgley was born on June 15, 1927 in Colorado Springs to John and Gladys Person. Alberta grew up on the Person ranch in Peyton, Colorado, and, after graduation from Peyton High School, moved west to California.

During her many years of work in San Francisco, she became for her younger relatives the glamorous big-city family member, returning to visit in the latest clothing styles and to tell tales of the early Haight-Ashbury days from a working woman's perspective.

Alberta returned to Colorado in the 1960's where she met and married her husband, Robert Sedgley. After Robert's death in 1989, Alberta moved to the Medalion Retirement Community in Colorado Springs where she lived until her peaceful passing on November 20, 2016.

Alberta loved gardening, especially growing roses. She was also talented in crocheting and knitting, and other arts and crafts. Alberta was strong and determined, and known for her straight talk, wit, and radiant smile.

Alberta is survived by her twin sister, Claire Cumella of Colorado Springs, and older brother, James Person of Mesa, Washington as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

Sad to hear of Berta's passing. I always enjoyed visiting her and grandpa in Denver. Sending condolences to Claire, James and the rest of the family.

Berta was a wonderful step-grandmother to me. She was always kind and generous with her time and attention. I enjoyed spending summers in Denver with her and my grandfather Bob in the 1970s and 1980s. Heartfelt condolences to Berta's siblings and extended family on her loss.
