Alf Rustad Obituary
Alf left his loving family to be with his Lord in heaven July 1, 2007 at the age of 44. He was the proud father of Janis Elise Rustad, age 7, and the husband of the love of love of his life Rachel Dickinson. Alf was born in Bergen, Norway where he also was baptized and came to this country with his parents and two sisters at the age of 3. Alf was a lovable son, a good student always willing to help, always cared about his friends and admired and appreciated his family. Alf finished high school in Colorado Springs at age 17, and moved to Denver to take drafting school when he was 18. After a year he started working for (Rainbo) Sarah Lee, where he worked for 24 years till he became sick with cancer. He struggled with the cancer for 2 and a half years before he passed away in his home in the loving arms of his wife and mother. Alf's big interest and hobby ever since he was 8, was car races. The older he got, the more he became interested. He loved stock car, NASCAR and the Indy 500. He traveled many places in the U.S. to see the races. He finally ended up as chief scorer and track writer for Colorado National Speedway, north of Denver where he held his job for over 10 years. He was never afraid of working, at this time he worked two jobs. His other hobby was working with model trains and had started to set up a track in his basement. He was a perfectionist and of course the scale he worked with was N scale. He had his plans drawn on his computer before he started working with it. This was a blessing, it kept him busy while he was sick. It helped him cope with the pain. Alf didn't want to leave this world and his beloved daughter, but he believed in his Lord and he knew where he was going. Alf is survived by his mother Anna S. Snead, his sister Randi Clark, step father Everette Snead, stepbrother, Mark Snead, his brother in-law Robert Clark, father and mother in-law Don and Bridget Dickinson, two aunts: Birgit Vedeler, Anne-Marie Thomassen of Norway, niece, Erin Smith, nephew, Nick Gilas and numerous cousins in Norway. He was preceded in death by his sister, Elisabeth Small, his brother, Scott Snead, his father, Kaare Rustad and nephew, Matthew Gilas. My beloved son Alf, Thank you for all your love and care you have given me through the years. We have been going through alot together, both happiness and sadness. But you were always there for me.
