Alfreda Margaret Licklider of Manitou Springs, Colorado, passed into eternal life on Saturday, November 18, 2023. She was 97 at the time of death.
Alfreda was born in Kinsley, Kansas, to parents Frank and Josephine (Schmitt) Hirsh on October 28, 1926. She was the third of eight children. Alfreda attended the schools in Kinsley and graduated from the Sacred Heart College in Wichita, Kansas.
Alfreda married Erwin Klienhein of Wichita, on July 28, 1947, in St. Joseph's Church. Alfreda and Erwin spent many years vacationing in Manitou Springs, Colorado, and eventually moved from Wichita to Manitou Springs. Alfreda acquired a love for China painting, and her artistic skills became a career and a passion for the extent of her life.
Following Erwin's death, Alfreda found the second love of her life, Beecher Licklider. They were married March 21, 1998, and resided in Manitou Springs, Colorado. Alfreda further pursued her China artistry, traveling extensively to share her skills as a China painting teacher.
Her husband Beecher passed away on July 2, 2007, at 88 years old. Alfreda was a devoted member of her church, attending daily Mass for most of her life in Colorado Springs, and generously donating her time to the church.
Alfreda continued to reside in Manitou Springs for her remaining days, finally spending her final weeks at the Bear Creek Assisted and Senior Living Facility in Colorado Springs.
Alfreda is survived by her brother Paul who resides in Murrieta, California, and two stepsons; Dave Licklider of Wake Forest, North Carolina, and Bob Licklider of Shelton, Washington. She is preceded in death by her brothers; Victor, Donald, and Clarence, and sisters; Theresa, Mildred, and Christine.
A viewing will be held at 9 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 2030 W Colorado Ave, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80904, with a Rosary to follow at 9:30 am, and Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am. Burial at Fairview Cemetery will take place at a later date.
