Alice Doyle Obituary

On 22 Aug 2010, the family and friends of Alice Doyle, born 14 Jan 1928 in Ligonier, IN, lost a beautiful spirit to the effects of chronic obstructive lung disease. After a brief struggle with an acute worsening of the disease, we honored her request to end aggressive care and pass away peacefully. Alice was a nurse of great empathy and for their empathy our family would like to recognize the wonderful staff at Life Care Center of Colorado Springs, the 11th floor of Penrose Main Hospital and, at the last, Pikes Peak Hospice. Alice had four children by her marriage to Lee Weaver-Richard of Woodland Park, CO, Bob of Littleton, CO, Barbara of Tucson, AZ, and John (deceased). The family grew up in Lansing, MI and Bisbee, AZ, where Lee owned a Ben Franklin store. In 1974, after the death of Lee and with the connivance of their children, she married the man she loved deeply for 34 years, Jack Delmont Doyle. Jack worked for the Phelps DJack had three children, Jack David Doyle of Philomath, OR, Peggy Gregory of Glendale, AZ, and Michael of Gilbert, AZ. We children grew up together in Bisbee, AZ, and knew each other from school, Scouts, The Order of Demolay, band, and football. We continue to love each other deeply. In addition to the children, she is survived by two sisters, Kathryn Ambler of Carthage, IL and Martha Farber of Sturgis, MI, 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Alice and Jack retired to Las Cruces, NM, and spent many wonderful hours and days camping and fishing in the White Mountains of AZ, bird watching, attending New Mexico State women's basketball games, attending music events, and reading. Alice was a keen puzzle and quiz solver, enjoying word games, crosswords, and roundly defeating Jeopardy contestants from the comfort of her armchair. We will miss you, Mom, and will always love you. Memorial services will be at Blunt Mortuary, 2229 W. Colorado Ave. at 7 p.m. Wed, 25 Aug.
