Alice Hostetler Obituary

Alice Marie Hostetler, 79, passed away November 2, 2007 in Mesa, AZ. She was born to Opal and Homer Richardson on May 8, 1928 in Springfield, IL. Alice is survived by Vince, her loving husband of 59 years, brother Edgar Richardson (Frances) of Albuquerque, NM, and sons David (Marilyn) and Larry of Colorado Springs, four grandchildren, Casey (Brenda), Corey, Jennifer (Shad Moore) and Sean, and three great-grand children, Zorena, Austin and Taylor. Her love and detailed interest in her near and extended families, including all her nieces and nephews, were paramount to her. Alice was preceded in death by her parents and her youngest son Brian. Alice lived in Colorado Springs for 33 years and was a member of First United Methodist Church. She worked at Alexander Film Company, was an administrative volunteer at School District 11, enjoyed her Tupperware sales experiences, and was a homemaker. She had a passionate interest in life and people, and if you knew her, you were considered her friend. Her hobbies and talents included embroidery, ceramics, quilting, sewing and stamping. Her unique and beautiful homemade crafts and cards, which she shared as personal gifts with her relatives and friends, will be remembered and treasured by all that received them. Alice also enjoyed such diverse activities as canoeing, hiking, and flying across the country with her husband in his home built biplane and other private aircraft. She battled cancer for 7 years while always remaining positive and active. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Banner Gardens Hospice House, 7231 E. Broadway Road, Mesa, AZ 85208. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, November 17th at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church Chapel, 420 N. Nevada Avenue in Colorado Springs, CO.
