Alice Ann Haggart Ponzini

Alice Ponzini Obituary

Alice Ann Haggart Ponzini died Sunday, November 12, at Penrose Hospital, after a two-year battle with lung disease. Alice Ann was born on January 24 1943 to Joel Nutt, Jr. and Alice Tallman Nutt in Mount Holly, New Jersey. She was married to Donald Haggart in 1962. She spent the next 20 years as a military wife and mother, living in numerous places including Germany and Colorado Springs. She and Donald Haggart were divorced in 1986. Alice Ann married Robert Ponzini in 1998, and accompanied him to Huntsville, Alabama where he managed the local office of ITT Advanced Engineering and Sciences. Her father and mother, Joel and Alice Tallman Nutt, preceded Alice Ann in death. Her husband Robert Ponzini, her son Donald Haggart, her ex-husband Donald Haggart, two brothers Paul and Eddie Nutt, and numerous nieces and nephews survive her. Alice Ann worked as a hairdresser in Colorado Springs in the 1970's. In the 1980's she became an independent janitor and had a contract to clean Meadow Muffins Bar and Restaurant. She became well known on the West Side as the matron of Meadow Muffin patrons, and Mother Superior to the young cooks, waiters, and bartenders who worked there. Over the years, she was known as a loyal, enthusiastic Bingo player at the Colorado Springs Bingo halls and a happy player at the casinos in Cripple Creek. Alice Ann was a colorful conversationalist, who loved life and lived it to the fullest. She had a wonderful gift of forgiveness, which made her special to all those around her. She was a fun person, and people enjoyed being with her. Few people who met her could forget her. She was a loving and supportive wife to Robert, and a loving mother to Donald. Both of "her men" were with her though her final days and at her deathbed. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday November 17, 2006 at Evergreen Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 18, 2006 at Evergreen Funeral Home Chapel, 1830E Fountain Blvd, Colorado Springs (on the northwest corner of Fountain and Union Blvds). Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Colorado Springs, Colorado. All of Alice Ann's friends are invited to a reception at her and Robert's home in Holland Park, following the burial.
