Alice Robbins Obituary

Alice Nancy Robbins of Colorado Springs, died on April 29, 2009, at Memorial Hospital. She was 94. Born to James and Grace Smith of Eltham, England, on January 6, 1915, she was the youngest of nine siblings. After completing her schooling, Nancy spent a few years in domestic service before working in an aircraft factory during WWII. Nancy married USAF Master Sergeant (Joseph) Paul Robbins, who was stationed in England during WWII. They moved to Colorado Springs in 1946. She and Paul raised three children in their home on the (then) outskirts of town near Union and Bijou. Nancy continued living in her family home until 2004, when she moved into the Medalion Retirement Residence. Nancy worked at East Jr. HS and for many years at Farmers Insurance Group until she retired in 1983. Nancy was an avid reader, and she enjoyed knitting, gardening, listening to Lawrence Welk and watching the Denver Broncos. She very much enjoyed the camaraderie of the many dear friends she made late in life at the Medalion. Nancy was kind, loving and generous, had a great sense of humor and always put the care of her family and friends before herself. She was a long-time member of Grace Episcopal Church and attended Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lakewood whenever she visited family there. Nancy is survived by her loving sons and daughter, Michael Robbins (Lynne) of Lakewood, Paul Robbins (Mary) of Alamosa, and Janet Robbins (Bob Huff) of Loveland; her five grandchildren, Cherie McHenry (Scott), Russell Robbins (Pam), Bruce Robbins (Joli), Alex Robbins, and Tristan Robbins; and her six great-grandchildren, Ryan, Mark, Kyla, Michael, Nicole, and Sarah. A memorial service will be held at the Medalion, 1719 E. Bijou Street in Colorado Springs on May 8, 2009, at 2:00 pm. Inurnment will take place at 2:15 pm, Monday, May 18, 2009, at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Area C, Denver, CO.

I wish the family the best, Nancy was a wonderful friend that never forgot a birthday or a holiday. I looked forward to her cards and it won't seem right without them. My love and sympathy to all.
