Alma Forester Obituary

Alma Forester, a life-long resident of Colorado, passed away on March 2, 2007. She was born in Rocky Ford, Colorado on September 3, 1907. She and her sister, Marjorie grew up on a farm where her father raised watermelon and cantaloupe. Alma moved to Colorado Springs when her son Freddie, was young, so he could attend a Christian school. She remained in Colorado Springs for the rest of her life. She moved to the west side and lived in the same house for nearly 60 years. She worked at Van Briggle Pottery and Shepherd Citations, as well as caring for her son, her sister, who was not well and her mother who lived to be almost 107 years of age. A1ma was a remarkable woman. After the death of her sister and her mother, she continued to work and live alone. She lived by herself, caring for all her own personal needs until her death at 99 years of age. She modeled the independence of her generation. She kept her house extremely neat, inside and out, never let a dandelion grow in her large lawn nor a leaf stay on her grass. She never missed a watering schedule. She faithfully attended Calvary church every Sunday even when the weather was inclement. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, her son and his wife and her grandson. She outlived her entire family. However, she has a host of friends who always found her pleasant and uncomplaining and enjoyed her company. Visitation will be from 6:00pm until 7:00 pm on Thursday, with the funeral services at 7:00 pm on Thursday, March 8, 2007 at Blunt Mortuary Chapel 2229 W. Colorado Ave. Colorado Springs, Colorado 80904. Interment will be in the family plot at Roselawn Cemetery in Pueblo, Colorado.
