Alma Rowan Obituary

June 16, 1921- November 30, 2008
Alma Rowan, 87, passed away of natural causes on Sunday, November 30, 2008 in her residence at Sunrise at University Park. Alma was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on June 16, 1921. She was a proud military wife who lived all over the country while raising five children. After her husband's retirement, Alma and Mac moved to Neosho, Missouri where they lived for 20 years. In 1994 the couple moved to Colorado Springs where Alma lived for 14 years. Alma was a very active volunteer, being involved with the 1st Christian Church in Neosho as well as the Red Cross, the Foster Children's Board and hospital work where ever she lived. Alma is survived by her brother Donald (Carol Morgan), two daughters, Carol (Ed McClellan) and Patricia (Robert Herring), two sons; John (Maggie) and William (Mary). She leaves six grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren whom will spend their lives trying to live up to her good opinion of them. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 5, 2008 at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver Colorado.

It was my privilege and joy to have known Alma since 1953 when her daughter, Carol, and I became best friends. Being an only child, I was amazed at how she was able to preside over the "Rowan Roost" with her calm, loving manner. She was a gracious lady with a sparkling laugh. I am confident that she is now reunited with her husband and their daughter Linda.
