Alvaro M. Diaz, age 75, died August 2, 2018 in Missoula, MT.
Alvaro was born November 5, 1942, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He lived there until he was drafted in the Army. He was stationed in San Antonio, TX in 1965, where he met his wife Pamela Diaz (McClellan). Al and Pam moved to Omaha, Nebraska in 1968 to raise their family of three children, thirteen grandchildren and one great grandchild. The last four years Al and Pam resided in Colorado Springs where they retired to seek out new adventures in the mountains. Alvaro is preceded in death by his father, Saturnino Diaz, his mother Rosa Maria Diaz, and son-in-law, Andrew Zimmerman. Alvaro is survived by wife, Pamela Diaz; sons, Ken Diaz, Sean Diaz, daughter-in-law, Ellie Diaz, daughter, Tanya Diaz and partner, Kreteaka Henshall; brother, Jesus (Gordi) Diaz and wife, Dimma, brother, Carlos Diaz; twin sister, Wanda Diaz and sister, Hilda Nagarski and husband, Leonard. Al loved spending time with his grandchildren, Angela Diaz, Abby Diaz, Kameron Diaz, Dalis Voeltz, Klaire Diaz, Tyler Diaz and his wife, Ashley, Eric Diaz, Jada Moseman, Sheamus Diaz, Isaac Zimmerman, Owen Zimmerman, Isabelle Zimmerman and Ophelia Zimmerman and one great-grandchild, Brooklyn Diaz, along with many other relatives and great friends.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18th, at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 2650 Parish View, Colorado Springs, CO 80919. Viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:30a.m.-11:00 a.m. at the parish. A luncheon will be held after the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested in Al's honor to Urban Peak 423 E Cucharras Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80903 or Pikes Peak Group Sierra Club, 522 North Royer Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80903.
