Alvin Tafoya Obituary
His wife and 10 children survive Alvin. Sons: Alvin Tafoya Jr., Timothy Tafoya, (Evelyn), Joseph Tafoya, (Barbara), Edward Tafoya, (Sandra), Kevin Tafoya, (Valerie), John Tafoya, (Tori), Michael Tafoya, (Melissa). Daughters: Nancy Smith, Melony Burris, (Timothy), Machell Lujan, (James). Also survived by Alvin are his 2 sisters, Delores Chavez and Marylee Kozlowski. He was blessed with 28 grandchildren and 39 great-grand children. He was preceded in death by 12 siblings, one daughter, Kathleen Tafoya, and one granddaughter, Kimberly Moyle.
Alvin Tafoya enlisted into the U.S. Army and spent time in Germany and learned the craft of cooking. After getting honorable discharged, he worked his way up to being an Executive chef at various 5 star hotels in the state and also for the Colorado Department of Corrections, demonstrating great work ethic. Later in life, he owned and operated his own landscaping business. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and keeping the slot machine active in Cripple Creek. He also spent countless hours researching his family ancestry, sharing stories of his Native American roots. He loved to cheer against the Broncos, just to get a rise out of the true fans in the family. Alvin will be remembered for his sense of humor, his friendly disposition, and love for his family. He will be missed by all.
A viewing will be held, and friends may pay respects to the family at 4 p.m., rosary to follow at 6 p.m., on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Memorial Gardens, 3825 Airport road, Colorado Springs.
A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2016, 10 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2030 W. Colorado avenue, Colorado Springs, CO. Memorial contributions may be made in Alvin Tafoya's honor to the American Diabetes Association.

It's amazing how much he looks like Grandpa Tafoya! I remember he was always laughing! He had an infectious laugh!! I loved visiting, your house was always so homey and inviting. Those memories will be treasured.

I loved my Uncle Al and his ever present smile. He could dance with the best of 'em and his fried chicken was wonderful. He will be sorely missed by all of us. We were so lucky to know him. My thoughts are with you, Aunt Sylvia and the whole Tafoya clan.

Indeed a wonderful man, whom I was blessed to have known for the past 5 years. His humor always brightened the room, always busy in his yard, workshop making wood carvings some of which I had the opportunity to purchase (crosses) last Easter while visiting he and Sylvia. May the fond loving memories forever carry on forever. My thoughts and prayers are with Sylvia and the entire family at this most difficult time!
