Amie Ross Obituary
Amie was born July 18, 1950 in Waterloo, Iowa to Donald and Darlene (Risdon) Miller and grew up in Independence, Iowa. She graduated from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education and had been a first and second grade teacher at Explorer Elementary School, Academy School District 20. She was Teacher of the Year in 1996. Amie retired shortly thereafter to become a full time homemaker.
She was married to Dr. Ray Ross on June 24, 1993, who survives her. She is survived also by her son, Matthew (Deidra) Headley; her daughter, Kristin Headley (Ryan) Clark; her stepson, Raymond Ross, Jr.; two stepdaughters, Diana Ross (Lennie) Petrocelli and Claudia Ross (Joe) Flores; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A private funeral service for family members will be conducted at The Springs Funeral Services.
Memorial contributions may be made in Amie's memory to the American Brain Tumor Association, 8550 W. Bryn Mawr Avenue, Suite 550, Chicago, Illinois 60631; to the B.P.O. Elks Lodge 309 Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 7165, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80933-7165; or to the Pikes Peak Hospice Foundation, 2550 Tenderfoot Hill Street, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80906.

Amie is the first friend I made in elementary school in Independence and has been a treasure ever since. Her kindness, warmth, and vivacity were unmatched. The world is a little less warm today.

Amie was my cousin, we were practically joined at the hip growing up. We were the "gigglers" at all the family functions.I have deep admirations for my sweet cousin, she fought a great fight. I will miss her, but I also know her loving spirit is with me, all of us. Rest In peace sweet Amie....

My husband Brian and I are so blessed to have known Amie for many years. She brought abundant joy and love to the world, and especially to her husband and our dear friend, Ray. We have prayed for her, Ray and their family for years and will continue to. May this part of her journey be much more enjoyable than her ending time on Earth.
