Ann Marie Beattie
June 18, 2025

After 91 years of sunrises and sunsets, Ann Marie Beattie passed away on June 18, 2025. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and her Sunrise champions, the compassionate people who provided her with kind, competent, and gracious care until her final sunset.
Ann Marie Beattie was born in NYC, the daughter of Rita and William Buchsbaum. The oldest of four sisters, she grew up in Mesa, AZ, where she participated in many activities at Mesa High School, including journalism, volleyball, and the Mesa High Marching Rabbettes. After high school, Ann went to Los Angeles where she completed nurses' training at Queen of Angels Hospital. In 1954, she married George T. Beattie, and they started the family to which she dedicated herself. They moved their young family to Colorado Springs, where they have lived for 68 years.Ann was a devoted homemaker, actively involved with her children in church, school PTA, and leading Girl Scouts. As an accomplished seamstress, she tailored suits for George and created all kinds of clothing for her children, including pajamas, dresses for formal dances, and wedding gowns. After many years as a mother and homemaker, Ann returned to her nursing career, working at Penrose Hospital for several decades until her retirement.
Her nurturing spirit touched many lives: George, her husband of 70 years who preceded her in death, 5 children, 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and many friends, old and new. Her family and friends lovingly remember her as sassy and independent. Ann leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and reminder to cherish every moment.

I was very sad to see this. Many pleasant memories of her being a room mother with my mom. Also seeing her when Karen,James, and I would play downstairs at the house on Maple.
