Ann Downey Obituary

Ann Elizabeth Downey, former resident of Colorado Springs, found her peace on May 16, 2009 in Texas with her family at her bedside. She was a devoted wife and mother, an avid reader, a competitive card player, a master storyteller, and a faithful friend to many. She will be sorely missed by those who knew her relentless quest for life, and her encouraging smile. Survived by her husband, Doug and daughter Katy; Lyndi Sue; the entire Downey family; Uncles Bernard Bodmer and wife Shirley; and Robert Bodmer and wife Shirley; Aunt Dody Miller and the families of her seven cousins. Her parents Dorman and Katie Francis preceded her in death. Ann’s ashes will be returned to Colorado Springs with a service celebrating her life on June 13th, 1:00 pm at Shrine of Remembrance, 1703 E. Fountain Blvd in Colorado Springs. The family will host a reception for everyone in Ann’s honor immediately following at the Colorado Springs Country Club, 3333 Templeton Gap Rd, Colorado Springs, Co. In lieu of sending flowers, Ann would rather you remember her with a donation to the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region, 610 Abbott Lane, Colorado Springs, Co 80905.

Doug and Katy,

We are so sad to hear of your loss, and I will miss Ann greatly. She was a big part of my high school years and beyond. She always had a smile and kind word for everyone. She was a fighter, and I know she has suffered plenty with her health. I'm looking forward to seeing you both next week.

Wishing you all the very best,

Jess, Vanessa, and Joe Quintana

My sympathy to the Downey family. I will always remember the years Ann was my supervisor in the library at Mitchell High School. Ann was a super lady to work with and always had a smile.

Ann was a special person and a fighter when it came to dealing with her physical problems. We miss her and Doug here at Pebble Creek and were sad when necessity called for a change of climate move.
