Anne Campbell Obituary

Anne G.
Campbell
October 10, 1961
May 7, 2025

Anne G. Campbell, age 63, was called home to our Lord on May 7, 2025. A longtime resident of Monument and Colorado Springs, Anne retired from the United States Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel after serving as a contracting officer and later a member of the faculty at the U.S. Air Force Academy.
Anne was born on October 10, 1961, in Milwaukee, WI, to William and Sarah (Peterson) Gettelman. She grew up in Brookfield, WI, where she also attended high school. Anne graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1983, and later earned a Master's Degree from the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy at Tufts University and a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Colorado, Boulder. On May 20, 1989, she married Jeffrey Campbell in Arlington, MA, after they met and fell madly in love at a local church.
After retiring from the Air Force, Anne embarked on a second career as a tutor for students with dyslexia and other reading disabilities. An avid hiker and outdoorswoman, her adventures with family and friends included summiting 14ers, exploring countless Colorado trails, hiking the English countryside, and walking the ancient pilgrim route of the Camino de Santiago. She was a member of the philanthropic organization, PEO, and served as co-president of the Tri-Lakes Women's Group. Despite her many accomplishments, interests, and friendships, Anne found her greatest joy in being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and she was beloved in return.
Anne is survived by Jeff, her loving husband of over 35 years; her sons, Connor and Gavin; her grandson, Colt; and her siblings, Parry and Tom. Her memorial service will be held at 10AM on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Family of Christ Lutheran Church, 675 W. Baptist Road, Colorado Springs, CO, to be followed by a reception at the church.
The family requests no flowers be sent, but cards are welcome. Any memorials in Anne's name may be made to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance at https://ocrahope.org/

So very sorry to learn of Anne´s passing. She was a good friend and it was a blessing to know her as a cadet and as a coworker on the AFA faculty.

Oh Man, what a shock. Anne significantly shaped my son Zeki's life by diagnosing him with severe Dyslexia while she was volunteering at the library. She subsequently did an amazing job tutoring him. She was always patient, positive and compassionate and I cannot overstate what an amazing accomplishment it was; he recently got an academic sholarship! Her service and dedication to fellow humans will be irreplaceable; we are forever grateful she was in our lives.

Anne and I were class and squadron mates at USAFA. She was a truly wonderful person and friend. Always had a smile, never ruffled and a steady, calm presence. She was a joy to be around. It was my great honor to have known her.
