Anthony was raised in Tulare and graduated from Tulare Union High School in 1965. He was a farmer, landscaper, air conditioning repairman as well as Anheuser-Busch sales/ deliveryman. In 1984 he made an unexpected career change and became the owner of the still trendy Salon Anthony's Hair People and Nails in Visalia and was very well known in the area as an enormously gifted cosmetologist and masseur. Although his co-workers and clients agonize over his loss, this dedicated salon family has committed to pick up the torch. The experienced new Owner/ Stylist, Cindy Lynn Costa, longtime Stylist, Jamie Gonzalez and Nail Technician, Audrey Carnes-Newton are dedicated to continue to service his clients and uphold Anthony's immense reputation for excellence. He had many talents and hobbies he shared with his wife Natalie. As a young man he owned and raced motorcycles. Later in life he and his wife belonged to motorcycle clubs. They also enjoyed dancing and could be found at least once a week, out dancing with friends. Anthony was a expert marksman avid Practical Pistol competitor. For more than almost two decades he competed in tournaments, winning numerous awards. Anthony is also recognized as instrumental in the establishment of the Rankin Field Shooting Range in Tulare. Anthony was best known for being a Hall of Fame, Fifth Dan Black Belt who was first certified by the International Shotokan Karate-Do Kenjojuku Association in 1981. He remained an active instructor until his death and was an important catalyst in the formation of the California Shotokan Kenkokai Association for which he is also a board member. His work as a Sensei (teacher) and is remembered by hundreds of students over the years who will attest that many of us are forever stronger, more steadfast and thoughtful citizens who know we are connected as people and part of something much bigger than ourselves. Anthony was the lead Chief Instructor and developer Founder of the Reaching Youth Shotokan Karate outreach program offered at the Manuel Hernandez Center of Visalia and sponsored by his church, Calvary Ministries of Visalia. Calvary will continue to offer this program in support of the spiritual and character development of the children, families and extended teaching staff who have been long committed to this program. Formal services celebrating the life of Anthony Alberti will be held Saturday, March 8, 2014, 1:00 PM at Calvary Ministries on Caldwell in Visalia. Anthony had a huge spirit and made everyone feel special. When you entered his Salon, home or dojo, you felt respected, and valued. You were treated like his best friend, and for him, at that moment, you were. We end this with his own words, as he ended every correspondence, card and phone call to his daughters, "I love you, forever and a day."

So sorry for the Alberti and extended family and friends. I knew Anthony mostly from way back in the 60's from high school as he was Susan's older brother. What a character....he always had that twinkle in his eye and a grin that made you wonder just what he was trying to get away with... No more pain, tears or goodbyes for him-he has gone home and is whole again.

I am so sorry to hear that Anthony has passed. As he cut my hair, he always told me fun stories about his kids and grandkids. Always a nice story about Natalie and how much he loved and appreciated her. I'll miss him and his joy for life.

I first met Anthony in the '70s at Federicos Beauty College, when I went in to get a hair cut. He was attending Federicos, studying to get his cosmetology license. After he left Federicos, I continued to have him cut my hair because of his ability to style curly hair.
