Anthony Jerome Boettcher, 60, was preceded in death by his parents, Jerome and Nadine, and his brother, Blase (Kathy). He leaves behind six siblings: Mary Boettcher, Teresa Dalbec (Charlie), Elizabeth Galbraith (late Brian), Margaret Smith (late C. Jay), Cecelia Sallee (Scott) and Gloria Horne. Anthony was a youth and club swimming coach for 30 years, including leading Falfins Swimming. For the last 13 seasons, he served as the associate head coach of the men's swimming team at the Air Force Academy. Celebration of Life: April 5, 1 p.m., Air Force Academy Community Chapel, 5134 Cathedral Drive, Suite 100, USAF Academy, CO 80840.

I can remember many long, early morning conversations with Anthony about why it was important to get in the water and practice. I was very young and stubborn and he was a new coach but he always had a way to convince me to get in the pool! Great man and a fantastic coach who will be missed by many.

Love to all, who had the the fortune to cross paths with Coach Anthony. Our daughter, Myriah, so enjoyed being part of Coach Anthony's M&Ms duo, on Evergreen Swim Team. Every swimmer should be so lucky to have such a wonderful first Coach. Thank you, Anthony

Anthony, you were such a rock for me.
I learned so much from you- I "leveled up" with you, got tough, got strong... you taught me how to stretch that extra bit more (physically and mentally), muster that last lap, push it further than I thought I could.
You were such a damn good teacher.
I learned how to lean into disappointments (because you were a softie under than whip-cracking exterior), and how to laugh and move on from them. You had a jovial, loving side- and you were a good friend.
You showed me how to be a leader because you were such a good one.
Dude, I loved you, I treasure your memory, still talk about your legacy, will never forget you, and am genuinely mourning your loss in a major way.
I asked God to give you a big hug for me- and to tell you that I can still calculate the distance to the wall, even on my back, like a BOSS- and I always follow through with my stroke, kick, never breathe in or out of turns, and I keep my head up.
`Til we meet again, brother- thank you for being the best coach.
