Anthony Petronino Obituary

Anthony J. Petronino, known by all friends and relatives as "Tony", died July 14, 2011 following a severe stroke in October 2005 and subsequent long-term post stroke care at Mount St. Francis Nursing Center, Colorado Springs, Colorado. Tony was born October 3, 1942 in Springfield, Massachusetts, the second of two sons. Tony's father Antonio and his mother Anna (Buoniconti) were first generation Italian Americans. In the early 1950's Tony's family moved to Southwick, Massachusetts where he completed middle schooling and later graduated high school in the adjoining community, Westfield. Tony received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Western New England College in Massachusetts and his Masters Degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Hartford, Connecticut. Tony was a Rifleman in the Massachusetts Army National Guard. As an electrical engineer Tony enjoy employment with some of the USA'S top firms, among them Xerox, United Aircraft, General Electric and Digital Equipment in locales as diverse as upstate New York, Connecticut, Colorado and Florida. At the time of his stroke Tony was a free-lance engineer and maintained residences in Orlando, Florida and Colorado Springs, Colorado. Tony's wife, the former Rhonda Scanzillo of Springfield, Massachusetts died in December, 1992. Tony is survived by Rhonda's brother and sister and Tony's brother Michael and his wife and five children. Tony will be interred next to his wife at Evergreen Cemetery in Colorado Springs. A visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, July 19, 2011, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., at Swan-Law Funeral Director's followed by a Prayer Vigil/Rosary at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at 10:00 a.m., St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 2650 Parish View, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
