Anthony "Tony" Tanner will be remembered for his big laugh and even bigger heart for serving others. He passed away unexpectedly on July 15, 2021 at the age of 62 and will be missed deeply by by his family.
He served his country and community as a Marine, former Denver Police officer, and correctional officer for the state of Colorado. He continued his legacy of service as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). He supported those who are often forgotten or dismissed by society. All who met Tony instantly liked his outgoing and welcoming personality. His thoughtful, spontaneous, and adventurous qualities will be remembered by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Velda; father, James; sister, Denise; brother, Michael; and daughter, Yvonne. He is preceded in death by his mother, Margie and son, Robert. A private memorial will be held in Colorado Springs where he will be laid to rest.

I wanted to share a memory of Tony from when we first met. I had just started dating his daughter and immediately when we met he said thank you. I was confused why he was thanking me and he said that I know she has someone that really loves her for who she is. After that we went to the Cameron Zoo in Waco and he says this is one of the smallest zoos I have ever seen. We laughed and said it's bigger just wait till we get inside. As we are walking around he says nope it's still small. What I remember from my father in law is that he was a great guy and had an outgoing personality. I am happy to know who you are and what you stood for. I appreciate you serving our country and continuing to serve soldiers throughout the years. I will see you later brother you will be missed. I'm adding a picture of your grandsons who will continue on your bloodline sir. Thank you
