Antoinette "Toni" West

We mourn the loss of our sister, aunt, friend and volunteer Antoinette "Toni" West, who passed from this life, joined by family, Sunday evening the 5th of December 2021. Without her, we are reminded how important it is to be thoughtless and to help others.

Toni was born in Chicago, Ill., on April 16, 1953 to parents William Frederick and Antoinette Marie West. She graduated from Reavis High School in Burbank, Ill., in 1971.

For 36 years, Toni worked for Lions Club International as a manager in the auditing department where she was described as a great friend and "awesome" co-worker. During that time, she enjoyed friends, softball, golf and other activities. In addition, Toni developed a strong desire for volunteering leading to 30 years as a volunteer in the Natal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of the Advocate Christ Medical Center & Hope Children's Hospital in Oak Lawn, Ill.

After retiring from LCI, she moved to Colorado Springs, Colo. in 2010. Despite being retired, her need to volunteer continued as she devoted her time to Care & Share Food Bank of Southern Colorado every week. She enjoyed spending time working to beautify the landscape of her home and caring for her cats (George, Gracie and Cheyenne) and her dogs (Koko and Adele). Toni cared for her neighborhood, as a sort of one-woman neighborhood watch, keeping an eye on the houses around her as if they were her own and keeping her neighbors informed of any concerns.

Toni also enjoyed her time spent with her extended family in Colorado Springs, sharing her memorable laugh with her sister, nieces and grand nieces and nephews. Her laughter will be sorely missed from family functions and by her friends and fellow volunteers. She was a woman who stood by her opinions and her word. She was an avid Chicago Bears and Chicago Blackhawks fan but never failed to take an interest in the favorite sports teams of people around her.

Toni is survived by her sister Cindy Moran, her brother Richard West, nieces Heather MacDougall, Jennifer MacDougall and Heidi Smith, grand nieces Chloe, Hartley, Rylan and Kennedy, as well as grand nephews Logan, Foster and Tanner. However, Toni will be missed by so many more.

A Celebration of Life event for Toni will be held Jan. 21, 2022 in Colorado Springs. In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions can be made to Care & Share Food Bank, 2605 Preamble Pt. Colorado Springs, Colo. 80915

I sat near Toni at church for a number of years, but did not really get to know her until we both recently ended up eating with a group of mutual friends before church. I will miss her, and her wonderful smile greatly.

I met Toni when we starting working at Lions in 1972. She was my BFF and co-conspirator for all these years. From are disco years to all our vacations together, San Antonio, Hawaii, Cruises etc. She will be forever in my heart. Thank you to her sister and family for the great care they gave her in her final days. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

I had the good fortune to meet Toni while I was a volunteer at Care and Share. She was a bright light with a fun and joyful spirit. I am so very sorry to hear of her passing and send love and hugs to her friends and family.

I was so sad to hear of Toni´s passing. I also worked at Lions for 30 years and had many a laugh with Toni. She was so kind and always smiling. I still have to laugh at the time that while we were at the airport headed to our annual convention, Toni went to the counter and had my seat assignment changed so that I would be seated next to her without me knowing it. There she was all smiles sitting and waiting for me! She was quite the prankster! My deepest condolences to all of her family. I hope all your memories can ease your pain.
