Long time resident of Colorado Springs Ardyce I. (Otte) Putnam went home to our Lord in May 8, 2025 after a brief illness in Kirkland, WA.
Ardyce was born Nov. 2, 1941 to George and Edna May Otte in Bradshaw, Nebraska. She had 2 brothers, Ralph and Gerald.
She graduated valedictorian from Boulder High School in 1959 and received the Boettcher Scholarship. Ardyce went to Colorado University and met her future husband, John Putnam, in math class.
John and Ardyce were married in Boulder, CO June 22, 1962. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from C.U. in 1963 .
Ardyce, John and their 3 daughters moved to Colorado Springs, CO in July 1970. She taught piano for a number of years and played at several Dad/Daughter shows at Benet Hill Academy. She taught math at Benet Hill as well as other schools in Colorado Springs. She helped many school districts around the state understand their state testing results and align their curriculum with the state standards. Ardyce attended the University of Denver and received her Masters Degree in Education in 1992. Ardyce taught students who wanted to be secondary math teachers at both the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and Colorado College. She also directed choirs and played organ at several churches in Colorado Springs.
Ardyce was the loving mother to 5 children who survive her; Theresa Putnam (Colorado Springs, CO), Julia Taylor and her husband Tom of Kirkland, WA, Rebecca of Kenmore, WA, Dan of San Diego, CA and Andrew and his wife Bryna Hazelton of Seattle, WA. She is survived by her husband, John, brother Gerald of New York, NY , 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
