Arthur Christensen Obituary

Arthur N. Christensen died peacefully on Monday, August 7, 2017. He was born on August 17, 1929, in Joliet, Illinois.

Arthur enlisted in the army in 1947. He was a veteran of the World War II occupation force, involved in the Berlin Airlift, the Korean War, and twice served in Vietnam. In early 1964, while serving in the Air Force in Colorado Springs he decided to make the city his home. He retired from the military in 1969 after serving the country he loved for over 22 years.

He worked for many engineering firms in Colorado Springs in the 1970s and 1980s, helping to design and expand the city. He also enjoyed being a part of the VFW Post 4051, where he served several years as Post Quartermaster and Post Commander.

Along with volunteering at the VFW he enjoyed dancing there with his wife and socializing with friends He loved to play pinochle, hunt, fish, and play all sports before the dreaded Alzheimer's disease took away his ability to do these things. He only lost the capability to dance in his final days but never the desire. Now he dances in the sky with those who preceded him in death, his wife of 47 years, Marion, his eldest son Kent, his younger brother Roy, and his Mother Cita H. and Father Arthur N. Sr. He is survived in this world by his loving wife, Rita, his sister, Barbara, his daughter, Victoria, his son's: Kevin, Keith and Kirk, grandchildren: Micheal, Jennifer, Nicole, Sarah, Austin, and Emma, and great grandchildren: Kelly, Jordyn, Kaden, and Alexandria, as well as extended family and friends.

Services will be held on Sunday, August 13th at 2pm at the VFW Post 4051, 430 E. Pikes Peak, with a reception to follow.
