Arthur Gutierrez Obituary

TSGT Arthur Gutierrez, age 83, a resident of Security, Colorado since 1956, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 surrounded by the family that he laughed with, lived for and loved dearly. He was the beloved husband of Annie Gutierrez for 65 years.

Arthur Eloy Gutierrez was born on April 2, 1930 in Springer, New Mexico to the late Joe and Eloisa (Olona) Gutierrez. He was a graduate of Springer High School and joined the United States Army at an early age. He married Anita T. "Annie" Vigil on July 26, 1948 in Raton, New Mexico. He then served in the United States Army Air Corps, now the United States Air Force, and served his country proudly for more than 20 years. He was with the Air Police in the Air Force and also served in Vietnam.

He attended Pikes Peak Business College and Regis University. Art was a member of the VFW, the American Legion, and the DAV. After his retirement from the Air Force, he served as a clerk for the United States Postal Service. Now he will be best remembered for his generosity and his love for his country.

He is survived by his loving wife, Annie, and his five children: Maurice, Charles and Nada Gutierrez, Jana (husband, Robert) Hayworth, and Andre (wife, Kimberly) Gutierrez, all of Colorado Springs. He is also survived by two brothers, Con (wife, Lucille) Gutierrez, of Springer, New Mexico, and Carlos Gutierrez also of Springer. Also surviving are his sisters Alice Romero of Springer, and Lucy (husband Floyd) Trujillo of Amalia, New Mexico. Art has 10 wonderful grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Michael in 2009, his daughter Arita in 2003, and his brothers Gilbert and Louis Gutierrez and his step-sisters, Tonita and Josie.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at the Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel. Air Force Honors will follow at the Veterans Honor Court. A luncheon reception will then be held at 12:00 noon at the Olympian Plaza Reception and Event Center, 975 South Union Boulevard, Colorado Springs.

Blessed be his memory.
