Arthur Locke Obituary

Arthur (Art) Locke passed away in Colorado Springs, November 30, at Pikes Peak Hospice. Art was born December 29, 1932, to Herbert and Ann (Unterreiner) Locke in St. Louise, MO. His one brother, Harvey Locke, preceded him in death, as did his parents. Art graduated from Ritenour High School and attended Central College, Fayette, MO. He left Central to fulfill his military obligation during the Korean War, returning to Missouri to attend what is now Truman University in Kirksville. After obtaining his degree he returned to St. Louis to begin his career in government contract management for various companies in St. Louis, Denver, CO, Kansas City, MO, Albuquerque, NM and Colorado Springs. While attending school in Kirksville, Art met and married Patricia Stewart, and they were the parents of three sons, Eric, Kevin and Evan, all of Colorado Springs. He was proud of his grandchildren, Zachary, Nathan, Preston, Reilly and Connor. Although his marriage to Patricia ended, they remained close friends. Art held dear his grandchildren's mothers, Janet Locke, Cindy Church and Dorothy Hutchens Locke. He is survived by a favorite Aunt, Joann Fromm of St. Louis, and beloved cousins who made his younger life a happy time. His sister-in-law, Imo Locke and his nieces and nephews, children of his brother, were close to him. Old cars and beloved dogs made his world go round'. His last antique car, a beautiful 1931 Model A, fully restored, was his pride and joy. Of all his dogs, "Hantz" was his favorite and perhaps they are together again. Art, Dad, Grandpa, we hated to let you go, but we will remember you always, and will laugh many times in the years to come, retelling "Art stories"! You were a funny guy, and you were and are so very much loved. See ya', Dad!
Mountain View Mortuary is conducting private family services on Friday, December 5. Burial at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver. Memorials may be made to PETA or the Humane Society of Colorado Springs.

Evan & Kevin,
Sorry to hear about you Dad passing. He always had a smile on his face and a bad joke to tell me when I came over to visit. He was a good man and will be missed.

God bless.

We will all miss our dear cousin with the great laugh and contagious smile. It seemed he didn't hesitate leaving Colorado when he felt his beloved Dad needed him. I am glad they had those years together. I imagine it was a joyful time in Heaven as Harvey and their parents welcomed Art home. We will miss you, Art

I still have many wonderful memories of the times I spent in
Overland Mo. at both Art's home and at his Grandmothers home
next store. We ate fruit from the trees, played pranks at
Holloween and shot off fireworks and the 4th of July. We
double dated with he and Pat and admired how they decorated
their first apartment. Carol and I will miss hiem

I will miss Uncle Art, especially his sense of humor. I have many fond memories, including the time he let his great-nephews Brandon and Justin put stickers on his forehead. I was fortunate to get several years to get to know him when he lived in St. Louis.
