Arthur Rexroad Obituary

SFC Arthur Lynn Rexroad, U.S. Army retired, beloved husband and father, passed away on June 10, 2011 in Colorado Springs. He was born September 4, 1946 in Sweethome, OR, to the late Dwight and Ruby Rexroad. Art served in the United States Air Force and then in the United States Army as a communications specialist. He proudly served during the Vietnam War, then later in Georgia, Germany, Texas, Ohio, Korea, Bahrain, and finally Colorado. He retired from the U.S. Army after 22 years. In his retirement, he was an electronics technician and he served on the planning committee for Holy Trinity Catholic Church and his Home Owners Association. He was also an avid agitator and instigator in the political radio shows. He was famous amongst his family and friends for his beef jerky and tomato plants. His hobbies included fishing, camping, reading, and cheering on the Raiders. Art leaves behind his devoted wife of 44 years, Irene, a daughter, Colleen and Randy Cross of Casper, WY, another daughter, Bonnie Murray of Colorado Springs, CO, a son, SSG Adam and Melissa Rexroad of Ft. Drum, NY, and a second son, SSG Benjamin Rexroad of Colorado Springs, CO, 1 grandchild, Ashlynn Rexroad, a sister, Florence and Russ Snyder of Gardenerville , NV, and two brothers Dwight and Robert Rexroad of Coos Bay, Or. He is preceded in death by a sister, Donna Rexroad. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Legionaries of Christ, Salesian Missions, Holy Trinity Catholic Church, or American Cancer Society. Services will be held on Friday, June 17, 2011 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church at 11:00 A.M. with Rosary prior. A reception will follow the services.
