Arthur Shriver Obituary

March 10, 1942 - October 31, 2007 Born March 10, 1942, in Paris, Texas. Grew up in Hobbs, New Mexico to Myrtis Allison Shriver and John Adam Shriver. Survived by Betty L. Shriver and children and grandchildren, brother John Melvin Shriver and his wife Lena, sons David, Matt and wife Marie of Albuquerque, and Tim of Bluewater, New Mexico, niece Judy Warner and husband Randy of Denver and great nephew Dan Jacquet and great nieces BriAnne and Kayleigh of Denver. Dean joined the United States Air Force after graduating from New Mexico Tech. He served his country 21 years retiring in Colorado Springs. Following retirement, he was employed by various military government contractors and later by Circle Drive Baptist Church. Eventually, his love for computers outweighed his need to be employed and he totally retired. Being a help to others was one of his greatest joys and desires, and there are many who can attest to that, as they benefitted from his assistance and technical encouragement. Dean became a member of Circle Drive Baptist in 1989 and faithfully served in many capacities. He loved God with all his heart. Dean was a member of the Gideons for 15 years and Bible distributions at local schools were his passion. A visitation will be held from 2-5 PM on Sunday at the Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place at 10 AM on Monday, November 5, at Circle Drive Baptist Church, 801 North Circle Drive. Graveside services with Air Force honors will be held at 2 PM Monday at Fort Logan National Cemetery, staging area "A". In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to be made to Gideons International, 50 Century Blvd., P.O. Box 37214-0800, Nashville, Tennessee, 37214, or Awana Clubs, One East Bode Road, Streamwood, Illinois, 60107.

Dean was a very warm hearted person. A wonderful Christian man that loved God. He showed it to all
his friends. This world is not my home, I'm just passing through. Now he is home.

Dean will be truly missed. He was a wonderful Christian man. Our sympathies to his brother John and sister-in-law Lena and family and to his wife Betty. We got to know Dean when he came to visit John & Lena when they lived in Dewey, AZ and always enjoyed his company. He would freely give us computer advise when we asked. Dean's family remain in our prayers.

Dean was very special to us. He was a good man and a good friend. He did so much to help others. May God bless Betty and the family. He will surely be missed but we all know he has gone to his reward.

I am unknown as to what to say, but I did want to ensure I gave my regards to my Aunt Betty and her children, Dean's family, and those others who loved and knew Dean as a friend. I was unable to know Dean on a more personal level, but did get the opportunity to meet Dean last year, and could see that he was a great, caring man. From what my mother (Joyce) has previously told me and reiterated to me just the other day, was how happy Betty has been since she has been married to Dean and what a good man he was. I am unfamiliar with grieving as I have not been around a lot of deaths in my life; however I do know that he is in a much better place, and will eternally be looked after.

From one Air Force member to another, (close to retiring myself) you will always be remembered. God bless… “Off we go into the wild blue yonder”

Betty, we really appreciated the times that we had with you and Dean over the past 4 years. Dean was a wonderful addition to your life. His patient, helpful spirit with our computer problems was a real blessing. We love you. Jim and Ina

In no way can I convey how saddened I am by your loss. Dean had become a very special brother-in-law to me in such a short time. It was as if he'd always been there. I only wish that Ferrell could have met him.

Dean brought out a side of you, Betty, that I'd never seen before and it was very great! I know he will be missed by many family and friends, but you especially, more than anyone could ever imagine.

"In His Time" He makes all things beautiful. God sent Dean to you, so let memories make life beautiful for now, until you meet again in Heaven.

Our sympathy, love and prayers are with you,
Joyce and Ferrell Poole
(Betty's sister)
