Arvilla Hohertz Obituary

Arvilla "Vicki" Hohertz (née Jacobson) was born on May 24, 1928, near Wilmot, South Dakota. Vicki had a dazzling smile, twinkling eyes and a radiant personality. Vicki grew up on a farm with her thirteen siblings and gained an incredible work ethic from her parents, Mabel and Louie.

In 1946 she married Melvin Harold Hohertz. Mel's career in the military took them and their four children on many adventures, from Germany to the campus of Michigan State where they lived while Mel taught ROTC, to Joplin, Missouri and, eventually, Colorado Springs. Vicki was an active military spouse, a single parent while Mel was assigned to Korea, and a successful Tupperware manager. Vicki displayed the fastest hands in the West playing video games with her grandchildren. They will always remember her for her lightening Nintendo moves. Vicki loved acquiring antiques, collectables, studying family genealogy, gardening and, above all, Mel.

She is survived by her husband, children Robert, Mike (Rose), Rhonda (Larry), and Timothy and grandchildren - Jennifer X. Hohertz, Michael X. Hohertz (Victoria), Claire E. Nutter and Colleen Berit Boyd (Andy), and great-grandchildren Deanna, Isabel, Alexander and Michael. Family always came first for Vicki and that legacy will surely live on in all those who survive her.

Vicki passed peacefully on April 28, 2017. Her service will be held on Saturday, May 6th, 2017 @ 10:00 am at Swan-Law Funeral Home, 501 N Cascade Ave, Colorado Springs.
