Asgeir Hjelm Obituary

Asgeir "Jerry" Svan Hjelm, age 76, passed away in Colorado Springs, Colorado on May 18, 2011. He was born on October 8, 1934 in Eskifjordur, Iceland to the late Adelheidur Einarsdottir and Svanberg Hjelm, and was one of 17 siblings. "Geiri" "Jerry" loved spending time with his family and friends. He had a natural gift and magnetism with children and animals. They loved him and he loved them. His wife of 55 years, Gudny Kristin Hjelm, holds his "heart and soul on a pedestal". Jerry had a wonderful sense of humor and could pull a smile out of anyone. He was quite the character. Asgeir "Jerry" is survived by his wife, Gudny, 4 daughters, Emilia (Lonnie) Heiser, Elin Margaret (Inga Fridriksdottir) Hjelm, Bryndis Keaton, Gudrun Magnea Hjelm (Jody Davis); one son, Asgeir "A.J." Svan Hjelm, Jr.; 13 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and oceans of extended family and friends throughout the world. Everyone who met him loved him!
