Augusta Kober (Kopl), aged 91, died peacefully on Feb. 15, 2021, at home. Gusti, as her friends and family called her, was a loving wife, mother, and friend.
Augusta was born on March 19, 1929, in Oberstdorf, Germany, to Max and Johanna Kopl. Augusta was preceded in death by her husband, CSM Richard E. Kober, both parents, three brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her son, Richard, Jr, and her younger sister, Emmi Hess of Berkheim, Germany.
Augusta grew up in Oberstdorf (a resort town in the Bavarian Alps of southern Germany). She married SFC Richard E. Kober on Feb. 2, 1952, in Babenhausen, Germany. They had one son, Richard, Jr.
Augusta was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening with her husband, skiing in Germany (Bavaria) and in Colorado (the Broadmoor, Vail, and Breckenridge), listening to country and western music (Marty Robbins was her favorite singer), watching German cultural (Volks) music DVDs, and enjoying coffee and small talk with her best friend, Christa Graham.
Augusta will be missed by all who knew her!
Augusta will be cremated and her ashes will be buried beside her husband, CSM Richard E. Kober, at Pikes Peak National Cemetery in Colorado Springs.
