Avery Harbaugh Obituary

December 31, 1922 - February 1, 2009 Avery Ralph Harbaugh, 86, went home to be with the Lord on February 1, 2009. Avery, the youngest of three brothers, was born in Waterloo, Iowa to Ralph and LuLu Carey Harbaugh on December 31, 1922. Avery married Charis Patricia Elwell on June 19, 1948 and recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. In 1958 after the birth of their 3 children they moved to Woodland Park, Colorado where he went to work for Park Hardware delivering propane. Avery retired from Glaser Gas Inc. after being in the propane industry for over 32 years. After retiring they moved to Colorado Springs where they attended Westside Bible Chapel and enjoyed visits from family and friends. Avery loved people and would strike up a conversation with anyone, anytime and anywhere. He will be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John W. Harbaugh. He is survived by his loving wife Charis, 3 children, Scott (Sheri) Harbaugh, Craig (Diane) Harbaugh, LuAnne (Michael) Smith, 7 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and 1 brother, Robert A. Harbaugh of Waterloo, Iowa. Memorial service will be on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Northeast Bible Chapel, 1722 McArthur Ave. Colorado Springs, CO.

We will always remember Avery and his friendly manner. He made a point to be friendly to each person he met. Very nice characteristic in this day and age! He will be remembered as a kind man and a loving father. Our most sincere sympathies to the Harbaugh family.
