Avis Porter Obituary

Longtime resident of Colorado Springs, Avis Elinor Porter, died 16 March 2016 in Boulder, Colorado. Born in Williston, ND, she was second of five children born to Fred and Nana (Porter) Page. Avis married Darrell Porter in Ketchikan, Alaska where she worked after high school graduation in Kalispell, Montana. Darrell was in the Army Air Corps stationed on Annette Island.

They came to Colorado Springs in 1952 where they lived for the next 50 years. Avis was employed at Singer Company until Darrell opened his own photographic studio where she worked until selling the business in 1984.

Mrs. Porter was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her two children, Bill (Eileen) and Sydney (Perry) Pierce, eight grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 25 March at 11:00 a.m. at Evergreen Funeral Home on E. Fountain Blvd in Colorado Springs. The family will gather around her at 10:30. She will be entombed in Shrine of Remembrance next to her husband.
